GRAND FUNK RAILROAD

The American Band

Reviews from Oak Lawn

Gerry of IL…

Don Brewer was brilliant on the drums.   His energetic style, enthusiasm and rhythm patterns are unique and make him one of the most popular drummers in the world.

Mel Schacher sets the standard for bass players with his unique lead-bass style and deep booming notes which resound into the crowd.

Max Carl, formerly from 38 Special, performed admirably as the replacement of Mark Farner who has chosen to pursue his own musical interests.   Max sang one of his own hit songs "Second Chance", which was 1987’s Billboard Adult Contemporary Song of the Year.

Bright and sharp keyboard work was provided by Tim Cashion, whose resume includes stints with the Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and with Robert Palmer.

Bruce Kulick’s lead guitar stole the show!   The former 12-year member of Kiss deft fingers handled the Grand Funk songs with ease, including a resounding version of "Inside Looking Out" and a special performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" Jimi Hendrix-style!

GFR certainly put on a great show in Arlington Heights and are still, "the peoples band!"
